As part of the Transpartisan Meshworks project, we are contributing to API development for the Simpy social bookmarking service.  This will allow us to integrate our local government information portal into a mesh pool: an integrated commons fitting together the best of collaborative information sharing  technologies (social bookmarking and wiki).

The first step in building out our meshpooling architecture is the development of a Perl module for accessing the REST API of the Simpy social bookmarking service.  An alpha release of the module is now available, and a full implementation is expected soon. 

While that may sound overly technical, please be rest assured that it will all be a lot easier to use than to explain!  Just stay tuned.  There’s much more to come.
